Woman Charged In July’s Northwest, D.C. Violent Road Rage Incident

WASHINGTON, DC.- Last Wednesday, a 24-year-old Washington, D.C., woman was taken into custody and jailed after being charged in connection with running down a woman with her vehicle following a traffic accident that occurred last month in Northwest, D.C.
According to D.C. Metropolitan Police Chief Pamela A. Smith, on Friday, July 18, 2025, just shortly after 12:00 a.m., members of the D.C. Metropolitan Police Department’s Third District responded to a report of a motor vehicle collision on the 2800 Block of Georgia Avenue in Northwest, D.C.
Upon arrival, Police Officers and First Responders found an adult female pedestrian lying in the roadway, having sustained serious injuries after being struck by a vehicle. The woman was transported by DC Fire and Emergency Medical Services to an area hospital for treatment of severe but non-life-threatening injuries.

During the initial investigation, responding Police Officers determined that the incident began as a traffic accident involving two vehicles. Following the collision, the drivers of the two vehicles became involved in a verbal altercation. During the verbal dispute, one of the drivers struck the occupant of the other vehicle with her vehicle and then fled the scene, leaving the woman severely injured in the roadway.
Detectives Identify Carter As The Suspect
As a result of the Detectives’ investigation, on Wednesday, August 20, 2025, Crystal Carter, 24, of Northwest, D.C., was taken into custody and formally charged with Assault with a Dangerous Weapon. Carter was processed on the charge and was remanded to the D.C. Central Detention Facility, pending future court proceedings in the Superior Court of the District of Columbia.
