Police Charge Teen In March 2025, Northeast Shooting Investigation

WASHINGTON, DC.- On Wednesday, a 16-year-old boy was taken into custody and detained pursuant to a D.C. Superior Court custody order and charged in connection with a shooting that occurred early this year in Northeast, D.C.

     According to D.C. Metropolitan Police Chief Pamela A. Smith, on Tuesday, March 4, 2025, just shortly after 1:00 p.m., members of the D.C. Metropolitan Police Department’s Fifth District responded to reports of gunfire on the 2300 Block of Washington Place in Northeast, D.C.

Police Officers Find Man Shot Multiple Times

     Upon arrival, Police Officers found an adult male suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. The man was transported by DC Fire and Emergency Medical Services to a nearby hospital, where he was treated for non-life-threatening gunshot wounds and subsequently released and continues to recover at home.

Northeast Teen Taken Into Custody And Charged With The Shooting

     During the subsequent investigation, Detectives were able to identify a 16-year-old Northeast, D.C., boy as the shooter, and a warrant was issued for his arrest. On Wednesday, August 27, 2025, the teen was located and taken into custody and charged pursuant to a Superior Court custody order with one count of Assault with a Dangerous Weapon. The teen was processed on the charge, pending future court proceedings in the Superior Court of the District of Columbia Family Law Division.

“The rules of the court require us to include a statement that states: The charges outlined in this publication are merely accusations, and as in adult criminal cases, a juvenile defendant and or defendants are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond reasonable doubt.”
