Police Officers Find Man Shot
Upon arrival, Police Officers found a man suffering from a non-life-threatening gunshot wound. DC Fire and Emergency Medical Services transported the man to a nearby hospital, where he received treatment and was subsequently released. During the initial investigation, the shooting victim informed Responding Police Officers that he was approached by two young suspects when one of the suspects pulled out a handgun and demanded his money and property.
Before the victim could comply with the suspects’ demands, the one brandishing the handgun fired a shot, striking the victim. The suspects then fled the scene without obtaining any money or the victim’s property.
During the ensuing investigation, Detectives were able to identify an additional third suspect. Based on the description provided by the victim and the area video camera footage, on Wednesday, August 27, 2025, at around 9:00 p.m., members of the D.C. Metropolitan Police Department’s Sixth District were on routine patrol in the 3500 Block of Jay Street in Northeast, D.C., when they spotted the three suspects wanted in connection with the shooting.
A 13-year-old boy and a 15-year-old boy, both of Northeast, D.C., and a 14-year-old Suitland, Maryland, boy were taken into custody and charged pursuant to D.C. Superior Court Custody orders with Assault with Intent to Rob While Armed. The three teenagers were processed on the charges and released to their legal guardians, pending future court proceedings in the Superior Court of the District of Columbia Family Law Division.
