Police Charge Man In February 2025, Northwest, D.C. Robbery

WASHINGTON, DC.- On Wednesday, a 19-year-old Washington, D.C., man was taken into custody and jailed after being charged in connection with an alleged robbery that occurred earlier this year in Northwest, D.C.
According to D.C. Metropolitan Police Chief Pamela A. Smith, on Monday, February 3, 2025, just shortly after 12:30 p.m., members of the D.C. Metropolitan Police Department responded to a report of a robbery on the 3500 Block of 14th Street in Northwest, D.C.
Victim Informs Police He Was Robbed By Three Suspects
Upon arrival, Police Officers located a victim who informed officers that while on 14th Street, they were approached by three suspects who threatened him and took their money and cellular phone. Two of the suspects fled on a teal electric scooter, and the third suspect fled on foot.
During the ensuing investigation, based on descriptions of the suspects provided by the victim and video surveillance footage, Detectives were able to identify one of the suspects as Jesse Matthews, 19, of Northwest, D.C., and a warrant was issued for his arrest.
On Wednesday, April 27, 2025, Matthews was located and taken into custody pursuant to a D.C. Superior Court warrant and charged with Robbery by Fear. Matthews was processed on the charge and remanded to the D.C. Central Detention Facility pending future court proceedings in the Superior Court of the District of Columbia.
