Police Charge Man In Monday’s Late Night Northwest, D.C. Robbery

WASHINGTON, DC.- On Tuesday, September 2, 2025, following a swift-moving investigation, a 41-year-old Southwest, D.C., man was taken into custody and formally charged in connection with a strong-arm robbery that occurred late Monday night in Northwest, D.C.
According to D.C. Metropolitan Police Chief Pamela A. Smith, on Monday, September 1, 2025, just shortly after 11:30 p.m., members of the D.C. Metropolitan Police Department’s First District responded to a report of a robbery on the 600 Block of H. Street in Northwest, D.C.
Police Officers Learn The Victim Was Assaulted And Robbed
Upon arrival, Police Officers located a victim who reported that while on the 600 Block of H Street, they were approached by a suspect who physically assaulted them, stole their money and property, and then fled the scene.
Police Locate And Arrest Suspect
While canvassing the surrounding area, Police Officers spotted a man matching a description provided by the victim. The suspect, identified as Russell Johnson, 41, of Southwest, D.C., was taken into custody. Based on the Detectives’ investigation, Johnson was formally charged with one count of Robbery by Force and Violence.
Johnson was processed on the charge and was remanded to the D.C. Central Detention Facility pending future court proceedings in the Superior Court of the District of Columbia.
