Flemington School Janitor Charged With Child Pornography Offenses

RARITAN TOWNSHIP, NJ.- On Thursday, a 34-year-old Raritan Township, New Jersey, man, employed as a janitor with the Flemington Raritan School District, was taken into custody and jailed after being criminally charged with allegedly possessing digital images and video files depicting the sexual exploitation and abuse of children.
According to Hunterdon County Prosecutor Renee M. Robeson, Carlos E. Barraza, 34, of Raritan Township, New Jersey, has been formally charged with one count of third-degree Possession of Child Pornography; and third-degree Endangering the Welfare of a Child. Barraza was taken into custody on Thursday, September 4, 2025. He was processed on the charges and remanded to the Warren County Correctional Facility pending future court proceedings in Hunterdon County Superior Court.

The charges stem from an investigation that began when a child came forward and reported to the York County, Pennsylvania, Regional Police that she had been enticed to send two digital images of her intimate body parts to a user on the Social Media Instant Messaging application Snapchat.
The IP address and history for the social media application uncovered that the user was located in Raritan Township, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania law enforcement Investigators referred the information to the Hunterdon County Prosecutor’s Office High Tech Crimes Unit. During the ensuing investigation, Detectives of the Hunterdon County Prosecutor’s Office were able to trace the Snapchat account to Barraza. A subsequent court-authorized review of the account uncovered sixteen digital images and video files containing child pornography.
Detectives further uncovered that Barraza was contracted as a custodial employee with the Flemington-Raritan School District.
If convicted at a trial, Barraza faces up to five years in New Jersey State Prison on each of the charges. He would also be required to register as a sex offender under Megan’s Law and be subject to parole supervision for life.
