HARTFORD, CT.- A 41-year-old Guatemalan national, previously convicted of negligent homicide, who had been illegally residing in New London, Connecticut, will be facing up to ten years in federal prison when sentenced early next year, after pleading guilty last Thursday, to unlawfully being in the United States after being deported as a convicted alien.
According to U.S. Attorney David X. Sullivan, on Thursday, September 4, 2025, Rafael Vincente Vincente, also known as “Rafael Vicente Vicente,” Vincente Carlos Vicente,” Carlos Vicente,” Rafael A. Vicente,” and “Rafael A. Vicente,” 41, of Guatemala, formerly residing in New London, Connecticut, appeared in the U.S. District Court for the District of Connecticut and pleaded guilty before U.S. District Court Sarala V. Nagala to Illegal Reentry into the United States by a Deported Alien.
During his plea allocution on Thursday, Vincente Vincente admitted that he attempted to entice, patronize, or solicit a child to engage in a commercial sex act.
Following entering his guilty plea, Judge Nagala accepted the plea and scheduled sentencing for January 7, 2026. At that time, Vincente Vincente faces a maximum of 10 years in federal prison, at least one year of supervised release, and a $250,000 fine. At sentencing, a U.S. District Court Judge will determine the term of imprisonment based on the seriousness of the offense and Vincente Vincente’s prior criminal history. Upon completion of any sentence imposed, Vincente Vincente will face immediate deportation proceedings.
According To The Charging Information Filed With The Court
According to charging information and documents filed with the District Court, in October 2004, Vincente Vincente, who has never held legal immigration status in the United States, was convicted in Connecticut State Superior Court of negligent homicide and evading responsibility for a motor vehicle resulting in death, and was sentenced to 10 years in Connecticut State Prison, suspended after serving 13 months. In July 2005, he was formally deported to Guatemala.
Vincente Vincente, at an unknown date and at an unknown location, illegally reentered the United States without permission or legal authorization to do so. On June 7, 2025, Vincente Vicente was taken into custody by members of the Groton Town Police Department and charged with attempted commercial sexual abuse of a minor, second-degree attempted sexual assault, and attempted risk of injury to a child.
The Connecticut State charges stem from Vincente Vincente being caught in an uncover law enforcement operation in which he responded to an ad on “Skip the Games,” a website commonly used to advertise commercial sexual activity, and traveled to a hotel in Groton to meet a 15-year-old girl for sex; instead, he was greeted by law enforcement investigators and taken into custody where he has remaind.
