Hartford Man Sentenced For Possessing Child Pornography

HARTFORD, CT.- On Tuesday, a 34-year-old Hartford, Connecticut, convicted child predator learned he would be spending the next decades in federal prison, and after prison, he will be spending two decades under the supervision of the federal probation department, after being sentenced for sharing and possessing thiousands of digital images and video files depicting the horrific sexual exploitation and abuse of prepubescent and pubescent children.

     According to U.S. Attorney David X. Sullivan, on Tuesday, September 9, 2025, Jonathan Williams, 34, of Hartford, Connecticut, appeared in the U.S. District Court for the District of Connecticut and was sentenced by U.S. District Court Judge Vernon D. Oliver to 120 months in federal prison, to be immediately followed by 20 years of supervised release, after pleading guilty to a federal child pornography offense.

     Williams, who has been detained since his June 1, 2023, arrest, appeared on August 15, 2024, in Federal Court in Hartford, Connecticut, and pleaded guilty to a federal information charging him with Possession of Child Pornography. Williams was subject to enhanced guidelines due to a 2015 conviction in North Carolina for a child sexual exploitation offense.

According To Charging Documents And Statements Made In Court

     According to documents filed with the District Court, Investigators of the Homeland Security Investigations had been conducting an investigation into a network of individuals who had been utilizing private groups on an internet chat application to share digital images and video files of child pornography. The investigation uncovered that an account associated with Williams was an active member of one of the groups. Investigators further discovered that Williams had been convicted in 2015 in North Carolina for third-degree sexual exploitation of a child.

     On June 1, 2023, Investigators executed a court-authorized search warrant at Williams’ Hartford, Connecticut, residence. During the search, Williams was taken into custody, and at that time, Investigators conducted a preliminary examination of Williams’ electronic devices and uncovered 7,000 digital images and 1,500 video files depicting child pornography, including digital images and video files of sadistic and masochistic, and others depicting sexual violence on infants and toddlers by adults.
