Former Mount Laurel Police Officer Sentenced For Illegally Accessing Social Media Accounts

Friday, September 12, 2025, 8:45 A.M. ET. 2 Minute Read, By Art Fletcher: Englebrook Independent News,

MOUNT LAUREL, NJ.- Last Friday, a 25-year-old Moorestown, New Jersey, man, formerly employed as a Police Officer with the Mount Laurel Police Department, was sentenced to over a decade in  New Jersey State Prison for hacking into social media accounts of multiple women and distributing nude digital images they kept of themselves.

According to Burlington County Prosecutor LaChia L. Bradshaw, on Friday, September 5, 2025, Ayron Taylor, 25, of Moorestown, New Jersey, appeared in Burlington County Superior Court and was sentenced to 12 years in State Prison in accordance with his March 2025 negotiated plea agreement to second-degree Elements of Computer Theft; and second-degree Official Misconduct.

The plea agreement and sentence stem from an investigation that began in  September 2022, after a woman came forward and reported to the Evesham Township Police Department that her Snapchat and Facebook accounts had been hacked by an unknown individual who then sent nude digital images she had taken of herself to her Snapchat contacts, messaged them to her Facebook friends, and posted them on her Facebook photo wall.

Detectives Identify Taylor As The Cyber Hacker

During the ensuing investigation, Detectives of the Burlington County Prosecutor’s Office High Tech Crimes Unit were able to identify Taylor as the individual who had hacked into the woman’s Social Media accounts. Further investigation uncovered multiple victims who fell prey to Taylor’s hacking scheme. As the investigation continued, Detectives determined that all of the victims were students at Rowan College in Burlington County, New Jersey, and each one of the victims had a student email account.

Detectives also uncovered that during the course of the scheme, Taylor illegally accessed around 5,000 Rowan College Burlington County campus email accounts. College officials cooperated with the investigation.

Detectives Determine That Taylor Was On Duty When He Committed The Computer Crimes

The charges reflect the fact that Taylor engaged in the illegal activity from his own personal electronic devices, but was on duty as a Patrol Officer. Taylor became a full-time Police Officer in Mount Laurel after graduating from the police academy in October 2021. The Mount Laurel Police Department took immediate action to suspend him following the initial charges being filed. Taylor subsequently resigned after measures were taken to terminate his employment.

“You cannot hide from us in Cyberspace; we are there, too, and we know how to find you,” said Prosecutor Bradshaw. “This was an extremely nightmarish invasion of privacy for these victims. It was made even more egregious by the fact that the person terrorizing these young ladies was a law enforcement officer.”
