BRIDGEPORT, CT.- On Wednesday, a 43-year-old former Questa, New Mexico, man was sentenced to nearly two years in federal prison for shipping firearms through the U.S. Postal Service from New Mexico into the State of Connecticut.

According to U.S. Attorney David X. Sullivan, on Wednesday, Timothy Gregory, 43, formerly of Questa, New Mexico, and currently in custody, appeared in the U.S. District Court for the District of Connecticut and was sentenced by U.S. District Court Judge Stefan R. Underhill to 21 months in federal prison, to be followed by three years of supervised release, after pleading guilty to Firearms Trafficking.

According To Court Documents

According to documents and statements made in the District Court, during an investigation into illegal firearms sales, the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s New Haven Safe Streets Gang Task Force uncovered that Gregory had offered to sell and ship firearms to an individual in Connecticut who was prohibited from owning or possessing firearms.

In May 2024, Gregory mailed a parcel containing a Glock 42 .380 caliber handgun and three ammunition magazines to Connecticut. In June 2024, Gregory mailed a .223 caliber AR-15-style rifle and two empty ammunition magazines to an address in Connecticut.

Following the investigation, on July 18, 2024, Gregory was taken into custody and has remained detained since his arrest. On June 5, 2025, Gregory appeared in Federal Court in Bridgeport, Connecticut, and pleaded guilty to the charge.

U.S. Attorney Sullivan commended the investigative work of the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s Safe Streets Gang Task Force, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives, and the United States Postal Inspection Service, which led to the successful prosecution of Gregory.
