MOUNT OLIVE, NJ.- Last Friday, a 62-year-old Mount Olive Township, New Jersey, child predator was sentenced to New Jersey State Prison for possessing over 1,000 digital images and video files depicting the sexual exploitation and abuse of children.

According to Morris County Prosecutor Robert J. Carroll, on Friday, September 5, 2025, Jose A. Lousa, 62, of Mount Olive Township, New Jersey, appeared in Morris County Superior Court and was sentenced by Superior Court Judge Ralph J. Amirata to four years in New Jersey State Prison, after pleading guilty following a mistrial to Possession of Child Pornography.

Lousa Pleads Guilty Following A Mistrial

On April 30, 2025, following a trial in Morris County Superior Court before Superior Court Judge Ralph J. Amirata, a jury was unable to reach a verdict, resulting in Judge Amirata declaring a mistrial. On May 12, 2025, before a retrial could be scheduled, Lousa appeared before Judge Amirata and pleaded guilty to the second-degree child pornography offense to which he was sentenced last Friday.

Homeland Security Investigations Uncovers Child Porn On A BitTorrent Site

The guilty plea and sentence stem from an investigation that began when the U.S. Department of Homeland Security Investigations, Newark, New Jersey, Child Exploitation Group, identified child pornography on a BitTorrent internet site located in Morris County, New Jersey. BitTorrent is a Peer-to-Peer file-sharing network that has been utilized to share digital images and video files depicting child pornography.

During further investigation, Investigators uncovered that numerous media files depicting the sexual exploitation of a minor were being stored on the BitTorrent site and were accessible for immediate download. The investigation also revealed that the BitTorrent site was linked to Lousa’s residence in Mount Olive Township. During the subsequent execution of a court-authorized search warrant at Lousa’s home, Investigators uncovered more than 1,000 media files depicting child pornography on the BitTorrent account on his electronic devices.
