NEW HAVEN, CT.- A 25-year-old Ecuadorian national, illegally residing in Danbury, Connecticut, will be facing up to two years when sentenced, after pleading guilty last Monday to being unlawfully in the United States by a deported alien.
According to U.S. Attorney David X. Sullivan, on Monday, September 8, 2025, Stanlin Daniel Vasquez-Salinas, also known as “Stalin Vasquez-Salinas” and “Stalin Vasquez,” 25, of Ecuador, illegally in the State of Connecticut, appeared in the U.S. District Court for the District of Connecticut and pleaded guilty before U.S. District Court Judge Victor A. Bolden to Illegal Reentry into the United States by a Deported Alien.
Following entering his guilty plea, Judge Bolden accepted the plea and scheduled sentencing for a time and date to be scheduled by the District Court. When sentencing, a U.S. District Court Judge will determine the term of imprisonment based on the seriousness of the offense and Vasquez-Salinas’ prior criminal history. Upon completion of any sentence imposed, Vasquez-Salinas will face immediate deportation proceedings and be removed from the United States.
According To Court Documents
According to the charging information filed in the District Court, on March 11, 2025, members of the Danbury Police Department arrested Vasquez-Salinas and charged him with Conspiracy to Commit Commercial Sexual Abuse of a Minor, between the ages of 15 and 17 Years Old. At the time of his arrest, Vasquez-Salinas identified himself as “Stalin D. Vasquez.”
An analysis of Vasquez-Salinas’ fingerprints confirmed his true identity, and the investigation uncovered that Vasquez-Salinas had illegally reentered the United States without permission or legal authorization after being removed in 2020. In December 2019, Vasquez-Salinas had illegally entered the United States and was arrested by U.S. Customs and Border Patrol in Texas. Following deportation proceedings, he was removed to Ecuador in May of 2020.
Following his March 11, 2025, arrest, on March 14, 2025, Vasquez-Salias, although a federal immigration detainer was released on bond on the Connecticut State charge. That same day, after a brief vehicle chase and a short foot pursuit, Vasquez-Salinas was taken into custody by Immigration and Customs Enforcement Agents. He has remained in custody since his arrest, and his State charges remain pending.
