Police Charge Man In Friday Night Southeast Knifepoint Robbery

WASHINGTON, DC.- On Friday night, a 61-year-old Washington, D.C., man was taken into custody and jailed after being charged in connection with a knifepoint robbery that occurred earlier that evening in Southeast, D.C.
According to D.C. Metropolitan Police Chief Pamela A. Smith, on Friday, September 12, 2025, just shortly after 7:00 p.m., members of the D.C. Metropolitan Police Department’s Sixth District responded to a report of a robbery at the intersection of Ridge Road and D Street in Southeast, D.C.
Upon Arrival, Police Officers Learn The Victim Was Robbed At Knifepoint
Upon arrival, Police Officers located a victim, who reported that they were near the intersection of D Street and Ridge Road, when they were approached by an unknown man who pulled out a knife and demanded their money and property. The victim complied, and the male suspect fled the scene.
A short time later, while canvassing the area, based on a description provided by the victim, Sixth District Police Officers spotted the suspect, later identified as Kenneth Stewart, 61, of Southeast, D.C., and placed him under arrest. Based on the follow-up investigation, Detectives formally charged Stewart with one count of Armed Robbery.
Stewart was processed on the charge and was remanded to the D.C. Central Detention Facility pending future court proceedings in the Superior Court of the District of Columbia.
