BOSTON, MA.- Last Wednesday, a two-time convicted child predator learned he could be facing up to 100 years in federal prison, after pleading guilty to distributing, possessing, and receiving hundreds of digital images and video files depicting the sexual exploitation and abuse of young children, just months after being released from prison on a prior 2015 child pornography conviction.
According to U.S. Attorney Leah B. Foley, on Wednesday, September 10, 2025, Robert Sokolowski, 52, of Everett, Massachusetts, appeared in the U.S. District Court for the District of Massachusetts and pleaded guilty before U.S. District Court Judge F. Dennis Saylor to a federal information charging him with one count of Possession of Child Pornography; one count of Distribution of Child Pornography; and one count of Receipt of Child Pornography.
According To The Charging Documents Filed With The Court
According to the charging information filed with the District Court, in September 2024, Sokolowski lost his cellular phone on a Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority Green Line trolley. After the phone was turned in, an employee attempting to identify the owner of the lost phone discovered child pornography on the phone. The phone was found to contain hundreds of digital images and video files depicting the sexual exploitation and abuse of children, including some of children as young as toddlers.
This case would be Sokolowski’s third federal conviction for child pornography offenses. In 2005, Sokolowski was convicted in U.S. District Court for possession of child pornography and was sentenced to 46 months in federal prison. In 2015, Sokolowski was convicted for a second time in U.S. District Court for possession of child pornography and sentenced to 150 months in federal prison. Sokolowski committed the instant offenses, just seven months after being released from prison for his 2015 conviction.
Following entering his guilty plea last Wednesday, Judge Saylor accepted the plea and scheduled sentencing for December 17, 2025. At that time, due to Sokolowski’s prior criminal convictions, he will be facing enhanced penalties. On the possession of child pornography charge, Sokolowski faces a mandatory minimum of 10 years and up to 20 years in federal prison, at least five years and up to a lifetime of supervised release, and a $250,000 fine. On each of the charges of receipt and distribution of child pornography, Sokolowski faces a mandatory minimum of 15 years and up to 40 years in federal prison, at least five years and up to a lifetime of supervised release, as well as a $250,000 fine.
At sentencing, a U.S. District Court Judge will determine the term of imprisonment based on the seriousness of the offenses and Sokolowski’s prior criminal history.
