Charleston Man Sentenced For Role In Beckley Drug Trafficking Organization

CHARLESTON, W.VA.- Yesterday, a 52-year-old Charleston, West Virginia, convicted drug dealer learned he will be spending nearly four years in federal prison, after being sentenced for his role in a Beckley, West Virginia, Drug Trafficking Organization that was responsible for distributing quantities of illicit narcotics in Beckley and elsewhere within the Southern District of West Virginia.
According to Acting U.S. Attorney Lisa G. Johnston, on Wednesday, September 17, 2025, David Anthony Lacy, 52, of Charleston, West Virginia, appeared in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of West Virginia and was sentenced by Chief U.S. District Court Judge Frank W. Volk to 46 months in federal prison, to be followed by one year of supervised release for his previously entered guilty plea to a federal narcotics offense.
Lacy previously appeared in Federal Court in Charleston, West Virginia, and pleaded guilty to Use of a Communication Facility to Facilitate a Drug Trafficking Crime. During his plea allocution, Lacy admitted to his role in a drug trafficking organization that distributed methamphetamine, fentanyl, and crack cocaine within the Southern District of West Virginia.
According To Court Documents
According to court documents and statements made in the District Court, on April 24, 2024, Lacy called Tilford Joe Bradley, Jr., and asked him to sell him 3.5 grams of crack cocaine, and also discuss buying fentanyl from Bradley so he could redistribute it to make more money. As part of his guilty plea, Lacy admitted to making the phone call.
Lacy further admitted that he received crack cocaine from Bradley throughout April 2024 and that he redistributed it in and around the Southern District of West Virginia.
Lacy has an extensive criminal history that includes prior criminal convictions for drug possession, criminal conspiracy, and being a convicted felon in possession of a firearm.
Lacy And Bradley Were Among Twelve Originally Indicted
Lacy and Bradley were among twelve individuals indicted for charges that they participated in the drug trafficking organization, which operated from around June 2023 to around May 2024. All twelve defendants pleaded guilty, with Lacy and another defendant pleading guilty to separate charges in lieu of the offenses charged in the indictment. Bradley, 47, of Beckley, West Virginia, was sentenced on July 10, 2025, to 144 months in federal prison after pleading guilty to possession with intent to distribute a controlled substance, methamphetamine.
   Acting U.S. Attorney commended the investigative work of the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives, and the Beckley/Raleigh County Drug and Violent Crime Unit, which led to the successful prosecution of Lacy.
