Memphis Man Sentenced For Distributing Fentanyl-Laced Cocaine

MEMPHIS, TN.- Last Tuesday, a 44-year-old Memphis, Tennessee, man, and career criminal learned he will be spending over a decade in federal prison, after being sentenced for selling to an undercover investigator a quantity of fentanyl-laced cocaine in June of 2023.
According to Acting U.S. Attorney Paul C. Murphy, Jr., on Tuesday, September 9, 2025, Randy Oliver, 44, of Memphis, Tennessee, appeared in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Tennessee and was sentenced by U.S. District Court Judge John T. Fowlkes, Jr., to 151 months in federal prison, to be followed by three years of supervised release, after pleading guilty to federal drug crimes.
Oliver Pleaded Guilty To The Charges In May 2025
On May 6, 2025, Oliver appeared before Judge Fowlkes in Federal Court in Memphis, Tennessee, and pleaded guilty to two counts of Possession of a Controlled Substance with Intent to Distribute, Cocaine and Fentanyl.
Oliver Sold Cocaine And Fentanyl-Laced Cocaine
According to the charging information filed in the District Court, during an ongoing investigation, on June 1, 2023, Oliver sold cocaine to an undercover agent with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives during a controlled buy. On June 6, 2023, Oliver sold a mixture containing cocaine and fentanyl to an undercover agent. On July 20, 2023, Oliver was taken into custody by members of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives during an attempted drug transaction. At the time of his arrest, Oliver possessed 53 grams of cocaine.
   In handing down the sentence last Tuesday, Judge Fowlkes noted Oliver’s extensive criminal history, including 11 convictions for drug and firearms-related offenses; one of the federal convictions was for distributing heroin in 2010.Â
