Police Charge Third Man In The November 2024 Southeast Shooting Death

WASHINGTON, DC.- On Tuesday, a 21-year-old Morningside, Maryland, man wanted in connection with the execution-style shooting death of an 18-year-old Northwest, D.C., man, whose remains were found in November 2024, in Southeast, D.C., was taken into custody and charged with the teen’s death.
According to D.C. Metropolitan Police Chief Pamela A. Smith, on November 8, 2024, just minutes before 7:00 a.m., members of the D.C. Metropolitan Police Department’s Seventh District responded to a 911 Emergency Call reporting the discovery of human remains on the 2600 Block of Dunbar Road in Southeast, D.C.
Upon Arrival, Police Officers Find The Remains Of A Man
Upon arrival, Police Officers located the remains of a young man in an advanced state of decomposition. At that time, the man’s remains were transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner, where an autopsy determined the Cause of Death to be multiple gunshot wounds and the Manner of Death to be Homicide. The victim was later identified as Alexander Ariel Pavon-Rios, 18, of Northwest, D.C.
During the ensuing investigation, D.C. Homicide Branch Detectives were able to identify three suspects in connection with the shooting death. Further investigation revealed that the shooting was a targeted, premeditated killing, and warrants were issued for the suspects’ arrests.
In March 2025, Detectives Apprehend Two Suspects
On Sunday, March 16, 2025, Miguel Antonio Hernandez-Orantes, 25, of Northwest, D.C., was taken into custody and charged with first-degree Murder While Armed and related Weapons Offenses. Additionally, on Tuesday, March 18, 2025, pursuant to a D.C. Superior Court arrest warrant, Antonio Benahias Morales, 29, of Capitol Heights, Maryland, was taken into custody and also charged with first-degree Murder While Armed and related Weapons Offenses.
On Tuesday, Detectives Apprehend Third Suspect
On Tuesday, September 16, 2025, pursuant to a D.C. Superior Court arrest warrant, the third suspect, identified as Angel Manfredi Campos-Melendez, 21, of Morningside, Maryland, was located and taken into custody and formally charged with first-degree Murder While Armed and related Weapons Offenses.
All three men remain detained in the D.C. Central Detention Facility pending future court proceedings in the Superior Court of the District of Columbia.
