WASHINGTON, DC.- On Tuesday, a 40-year-old Hillcrest Heights, Maryland, woman was taken into custody and jailed after being charged in connection with the attempted stabbing and nearly running down a Police Officer earlier this month in Southwest, D.C.

According to D.C. Metropolitan Police Chief Pamela A. Smith, on Sunday, September 7, 2025, just shortly before 7:30 p.m., members of the D.C. Metropolitan Police Department’s Seventh District attempted to conduct a traffic stop on a vehicle on the 3900 Block of South Capitol Street in Southwest, D.C.

During the encounter, the Police Officer made contact with the driver, who refused to exit her vehicle as instructed by the Officer. She then brandished a butcher knife and lunged at the Officer while still inside her vehicle. The woman then placed her vehicle in reverse and rammed the Metropolitan Police Patrol vehicle multiple times, and ultimately was able to flee the scene. During the ensuing initial investigation, Police Officers were able to identify the driver based on her vehicle’s registration, and charges were filed. A warrant was subsequently issued for her arrest.
