FRANKLIN TOWNSHIP, NJ.- Last Tuesday, a 38-year-old Somerset, New Jersey, woman was taken into custody and jailed after being charged in connection with allegedly fracturing the skull of her 5-month-old daughter, who was found nearly unconscious earlier this month inside a local hotel room.

According to Somerset County Prosecutor John P. McDonald, on Saturday, September 6, 2025, shortly before 12:30 a.m., members of the Franklin Township Police Department responded to a 911 Emergency Call reporting an infant child in medical distress at a local hotel located on Cedar Grove Lane in the Township.

Upon Arrival, Police Officers Find Baby Girl Critically Injured

Upon arrival, Police Officers discovered a lethargic 5-month-old baby girl with a large contusion on the back of her head. The infant was immediately transported to a local trauma center, where she underwent emergency treatment. The baby’s mother, Pamela Janiszak, 38, of Somerset, New Jersey, was found unconscious, lying on a bed in the room, and was also transported to a local hospital for treatment.

During the ensuing investigation, Detectives of the Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office Special Victims Unit and the Franklin Township Police Department determined that the baby girl had sustained multiple skull fractures, head swelling, and intracranial hemorrhages. Detectives further determined that the baby girl was in the care of Janiszak, and Janiszak caused the injuries to the baby girl.

Janiszak Was Arrested And Charged On September 16, 2025

Accordingly, on Tuesday, September 16, 2025, Janiszak was taken into custody without incident in Ocean County, New Jersey. She was transported to the Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office, where she was formally charged with one count of second-degree Endangering the Welfare of a Child. Janiszak was processed on the charge and remanded to the Somerset County Jail, pending future court proceedings in the Somerset County Superior Court in Somerville, New Jersey.
