Huntington Woman Sentenced For Federal Drug Crime

HUNTINGTON, W.VA.- On Monday, a 27-year-old Huntington, West Virginia, drug peddler learned she will be spending the next year in federal prison after being sentenced in Federal Court in Huntington, West Virginia, for selling crack cocaine and deadly fentanyl to an informant, early last year.

     According to Acting U.S. Attorney Lisa G. Johnston, on Monday, September 22, 2025, Mikayla Lanay Johnson, 27, of Huntington, West Virginia, appeared in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of West Virginia and was sentenced by U.S. District Court Judge Robert C. Chambers to 12 months and one day in federal prison, to be followed by four years of supervised release, after pleading guilty to Distribution of Controlled Substances, Crack Cocaine and Fentanyl.

According To Court Documents

     According to documents filed with the District Court, on March 11, 2024, during an investigation into the distribution of illicit narcotics within the Huntington, West Virginia, area, Johnson sold around 4 grams of crack cocaine and 4.5 grams of fentanyl to a confidential informant during a controlled buy under the observation of law enforcement Investigators.

     During her previous plea hearing, Johnson admitted to selling the illicit narcotics to the informant, arranging the sale beforehand, and conducting the sale from inside her Huntington, West Virginia, residence.

     Acting U.S. Attorney Johnston commended the investigative work of the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Cabell County Sheriff’s Office, which led to the successful prosecution of Johnson.
