Newark Man Fatally Gunned Down Saturday Afternoon In Linden

LINDEN, NJ.- Yesterday, Union County Prosecutor William A. Daniel reported that Detectives of the Union County Prosecutor’s Office Homicide Task Force and the Linden Police Department are continuing the investigation into the circumstances surrounding the shooting death of a 28-year-old Newark, New Jersey, man, who was fatally gunned down Saturday afternoon on a Linden, New Jersey street.
According to the Prosecutor’s Office, on Saturday, September 27, 2025, just shortly before 3:30 p.m., members of the Linden Police Department responded to reports of gunfire on the 3000 Block of Irene Street in the City of Linden.
Upon Arrival, Police Officers Find Newark Man Shot
Upon arrival, Police Officers located a man, later identified as Darrell Sanders, 28, of Linden, New Jersey, who had sustained a single life-threatening gunshot wound. Mr. Sanders was immediately transported to a local hospital, where, despite life-saving efforts, Mr. Sanders tragically succumbed to his injury and was pronounced deceased a short time later.
The investigation remains active and ongoing. No arrests have been reported as Detectives continue their search for the gunman and a motive for the shooting.
