Passaic County Man Sentenced For Child Luring & Attempted Sexual Assault

BOONTON TOWNSHIP, NJ.- Last Friday, a 43-year-old Clifton, New Jersey, man, and convicted child predator learned he will be spending the next decade and a half in State Prison, after being sentenced for his conviction of multiple counts of child sex crimes that occurred in March 2024.
According to Morris County Prosecutor Robert J. Carroll, on May 23, 2025, following a three-day trial in Morris County Superior Court, a jury found Brian Stewart, 43, formerly of Clifton, New Jersey, guilty of three counts of second-degree Luring; two counts of third-degree Endangering the Welfare of a Child; second-degree Attempted Endangering the Welfare of a Child; and four counts of second-degree Attempted Aggravated Sexual Assault.
Last Friday, Judge Hanna Sentenced Stewart To Prison
On Friday, September 26, 2025, Stewart appeared in Morris County Superior Court and was sentenced by Superior Court Judge Robert M. Hanna to 15 years in New Jersey State Prison, subject to the No Early Release Act, which will require Stewart to serve 85% of his custodial term before becoming eligible for parole. In addition to the term of imprisonment, Judge Hanna ordered that upon his release from prison, to register as a sex offender pursuant to Megan’s Law and be subject to parole supervision for life.
The conviction and sentence from an investigation that began on March 22, 2024, when the Boonton Township Police Department received a referral regarding child exploitation on the internet. Detectives of the Boonton Township Police Department, with assistance from the Morris County Prosecutor’s Office Sex Crimes/Child Endangerment Unit and the Morris County Sheriff’s Department, launched an investigation.
During the investigation, Detectives determined that Stewart had engaged in sexually explicit conversations on the internet with individuals he believed to be children and attempted to lure the children to a public meeting location to engage in sexual intercourse with the children. Upon arrival at the prearranged location, Srewart was taken into custody and formally charged.
