PROSPECT PARK, NJ.- On Wednesday, following an investigation, a 21-year-old South Hackensack, New Jersey, man was taken into custody and jailed after being charged in connection with sexually assaulting a teen and filming the sexual assault.

According to Camelia M. Valdes, on Tuesday, September 30, 2025, following a child sex crimes investigation, Detectives formally charged Torin W. Halvorsen, 21, of South Hackensack, New Jersey, with one count of first-degree Endangering the Welfare of a Child by Permitting a Child to Engage in a Recorded Sexual Act; second-degree Sexual Assault; second-degree Luring; third-degree Poxssession of Child Pornography; and third-degree Criminal Sexual Conduct.

On Wednesday, October 1, 2025, Halvorsen was taken into custody in South Hackensack, New Jersey, by Detectives from the Passaic County Prosecutor’s Office Special Victims Unit. He was processed on the charges and remanded to the Bergen County Jail, pending future court proceedings in Passaic County Superior Court in Paterson, New Jersey. The Passaic County Prosecutor’s Office has filed a motion with the court to detain Halvorsen pending trial.

Investigation Uncovers That Halvorsen Sexual Abused Teen

The charges stem from an investigation that uncovered that, in September 2024, on multiple occasions, Halvorsen, while in Prospect Park, New Jersey, engaged in sexual acts with a child who was between the ages of thirteen and fifteen years old, and on at least one encounter, recorded the sexual act.

If convicted at trial, Halvorsen faces up to 20 years in New Jersey State Prison. In addition to a term of imprisonment, Halvorsen would also be subject to parole supervision for life and be required to register as a sex offender pursuant to Megan’s Law registration requirements.

“The rules of the court require us to include a statement that states: The charges outlined in this publication are merely accusations, and the defendant and or defendants are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond reasonable doubt.”
