Police Searching For The Gunman In Friday Night Northeast Fatal Shooting

WASHINGTON, DC.- The D.C. Metropolitan Police Department is continuing the investigation into the circumstances surrounding the fatal shooting of a Washington, D.C., teenager that occurred early Friday evening in Northeast D.C.

     According to D.C. Metropolitan Police Chief Pamela A. Smith, on Friday, October 3, 2025, shortly before 7:30 p.m., members of the D.C. Metropolitan Police Department’s Fifth District responded to reports of a shooting on the 600 Block of Rhode Island Avenue in Northeast, D.C.

Upon Arrival, Police Officers Find Teenage Boy Shot Dead

     Upon arrival, Police Officers located a teen, later identified as Jermaine Durbin, 17, of Northeast, D.C., unresponsive, on the ground, having succumbed to a fatal gunshot wound. Mr. Durbin was subsequently pronounced deceased at the scene by DC Fire and Emergency Medical Services.

     The investigation remains active and ongoing. No arrests have been reported at this time as Homicide Branch Detectives continue the search for a suspect and a motive for the shooting death of the teen.
