Bronx Man Charged With Threatening Bergen County Resident

MAHWAH, NJ.- On Friday, following a nearly week-long investigation, a 32-year-old Bronx, New York, man was taken into custody and jailed after being charged in connection with threatening a Bergen County resident over a Social Media application.
According to Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella, on Saturday, September 27, 2025, the Mahwah Police Department contacted Detectives of the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Cyber Crimes Unit after Police Officers received a report that a Mahwah resident was receiving threats over a social media application, and an investigation was launched.
   During the investigation, Detectives of the Bergen County Cyber Crimes Unit, with assistance from the Mahwah Police Department, were able to track the social media account to Christian D. Ortiz, 32, of the Bronx, New York, who was sending the threats through the social media application.
Ortiz Surrenders To Detectives On Friday
Accordingly, on Friday, October 3, 2025, Ortiz surrendered to Detectives at the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office in Paramus, New Jersey, and was formally charged with one count of third-degree Terroristic Threats. Ortiz was processed on the charge and remanded to the Bergen County Jail, pending future court proceedings in the Bergen County Superior Court in Hackensack, New Jersey.
