Paterson Woman Charged In July 2025 Hunterdon County Drug-Induced Death

ANNANDALE, NJ.- Last Wednesday, following a months-long investigation, a 28-year-old Paterson, New Jersey, woman was taken into custody and jailed after being charged in connection with allegedly supplying fentanyl-laced narcotics that resulted in the fatal overdose of a 21-year-old man that occurred in late July in the Annandale section of Clinton Township, New Jersey.

     According to Hunterdon County Prosecutor Renee M. Robeson, on July 24, 2025, members of the Clinton Township Police Department responded to a 911 Emergency Call reporting an unresponsive man inside an Annandale home. Upon arrival, Police Officers located a 21-year-old man, who had succumbed to an apparent fatal drug overdose. The man was subsequently pronounced deceased at the scene.

     During the initial investigation, Responding Police Officers located drug paraphernalia consistent with fentanyl use. During a subsequent autopsy performed by the Hunterdon County Medical Examiner’s Office determined that the man’s death was caused by acute drug toxicity from fentanyl.

Detectives Determine That Cooper Sold The Deadly Drugs

     During the ensuing investigation, Detectives of the Hunterdon County Prosecutor’s Office and the Clinton Township Police Department determined that Shaneshea M. Cooper, 28, of Paterson, New Jersey, sold controlled dangerous substances to the man in Paterson, New Jersey, just days before the man fatally overdosed. 

Cooper Was Arrested And Charged Last Wednesday

     Accordingly, on Wednesday, October 1, 2025, Cooper was taken into custody and charged by Detectives with one count of first-degree Strict Liability for a Drug-Induced Death; third-degree Conspiracy to Distribute a Controlled Dangerous Substance, Fentanyl. She was processed on the charges and remanded to the Warren County Jail, pending a detention hearing, which has been scheduled for Tuesday, October 7, 2025, in Hunterdon County Superior Court in Flemington, New Jersey.
