Elderly Passaic County Woman Killed In Marlboro Township Fatal Crash

MARLBORO, NJ.- Last Saturday, a 70-year-old Totowa, New Jersey, woman was tragically killed after being struck by a motor vehicle as she was attempting to cross U.S. Route 9 in Marlboro Township, New Jersey.

     According to Monmouth County Prosecutor Raymond S. Santiago, on Saturday, October 11, 2025, just minutes after 7:30 a.m., members of the Marlboro Township Police Department responded to a 911 Emergency Call reporting a pedestrian being struck by a motor vehicle in the area of U.S. Route 9 and County Route 520 in the Township.

Police Officers Find Elderly Woman Fatally Struck

     Upon arrival, Police Officers located an elderly woman, later identified as Sherril Sakas, 70, of Totowa, New Jersey, unresponsive in the roadway, having succumbed to injuries after being struck by a vehicle. Ms. Sakas was subsequently pronounced deceased at the scene. The driver of the Honda CR-V, identified as a man, who struck Ms. Sakas, remained at the scene.

     During the initial investigation, Police Officers determined that Ms. Sakas was attempting to cross from the southbound to the northbound side of Route 9 when she was fatally struck by the Honda CR-V.

     The investigation remains active and ongoing. No arrests or charges filed have been reported as of yesterday afternoon.
