Man Fatally Stabbed Early Friday Afternoon During A Jersey City Dispute

JERSEY CITY, NJ.- Detectives of the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office Homicide Unit and the Jersey City Police Department are continuing their investigation into the circumstances surrounding the stabbing death of a man that occurred early Friday afternoon in Jersey City’s Historic District.

     According to Acting Hudson County Prosecutor Wayne Mello, on Friday, October 24, 2025, just shortly before 12:30 p.m., members of the Jersey City Police Department responded to a 911 Emergency Call reporting a stabbing in the area of Jersey Avenue and 1st and Maxwell Streets in the City.

     Upon arrival, Police Officers located a man suffering from a life-threatening stab wound to his abdomen. The man was immediately transported to Jersey City Medical Center, where, despite life-saving efforts, he tragically succumbed to his injury and was pronounced deceased shortly after 1:00 p.m. The Cause and Manner of Death, as well as the identity of the man, are pending findings of the Regional Medical Examiner’s Office.

Police Detain Person Of Interest In The Stabbing

     During the initial investigation, Police Officers detained a person of interest in the stabbing death, and the individual currently remains in custody. Police have not reported whether any charges have been filed at this time.

     The investigation is currently under active investigation by the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office Homicide Unit and the Jersey City Police Department.
