Following A Nearly Two-Year Manhunt, Police Apprehend Man Wanted In 2023 Fatal Shooting

WASHINGTON, DC.- On Monday, a 23-year-old Washington, D.C., man was taken into custody and jailed after being charged in connection with the November 2023 Southeast, D.C., shooting death of an 18-year-old Northwest, D.C.
According to D.C. Metropolitan Police Chief Pamela A. Smith, on Sunday, November 19, 2023, shortly before 8:30 p.m., members of the D.C. Metropolitan Police Department’s Seventh District responded to a 911 Emergency Call reporting an unresponsive man inside an apartment building located on the 2300 Block of Good Hope Court in Southeast, D.C.
Police Find Teenager Fatally Shot
Upon arrival, Police Officers located a man, identified as Treyvon Wilson, 18, of Northwest, D.C., suffering from a life-threatening gunshot wound. Despite life-saving measures by DC Fire and Emergency Medical Services, Mr. Wilson succumbed to his injury and was pronounced deceased at the scene.
During the ensuing investigation, Detectives of the D.C. Metropolitan Police Department’s Homicide Branch were able to identify Martell West, 23, of Southeast, D.C., as the individual responsible for the shooting death of Mr. Wilson, and a warrant was issued for his arrest.
On Monday, November 3, 2025, following an extensive manhunt and pursuant to a DC Superior Court Warrant, members of the Capital Area Regional Fugitive Task Force located and apprehended West. Following being taken into custody, West was formally charged with one count of second-degree Murder While Armed.
West was processed on the charges and was remanded to the D.C. Central Detention Facility pending future court proceedings in the Superior Court of the District of Columbia.
