Police Charge Woman In Sunday Morning Southeast Murder

WASHINGTON, DC.- On Sunday, a 51-year-old Washington, D.C., woman was taken into custody and jailed after being charged in connection with the fatal shooting of a 56-year-old man during a domestic dispute that occurred earlier on Sunday, in Southeast, D.C.
According to D.C. Metropolitan Police Chief Pamela A. Smith, on Sunday, November 2, 2025, just shortly before 9:00 a.m., members of the D.C. Metropolitan Police Department’s Sixth District responded to reports of a shooting on the 3000 Block of P Street in Southeast, D.C.

Upon arrival, Police Officers located a man, later identified as, Richard Walker, 56, of Southeast, D.C., having succumbed to a fatal gunshot wound. Mr. Walker was subsequently pronounced deceased at the scene by DC Fire and Emergency Medical Services.
During the initial investigation, Responding Police Officers and Homicide Branch Detectives quickly determined that Mr. Walker was fatally shot by Shawnta Aiken, 51, also of Southeast, D.C., during an apparent domestic dispute.
A short time later, Sixth District Police Officers located and detained Ms. Aiken at the scene. Based on the follow-up investigation, on Sunday, November 2, 2025, Detectives formally charged Aiken with one count of second-degree Murder While Armed. She was processed on the charges and was remanded to custody pending her First Appearance in the Superior Court of the District of Columbia.
