Ecuadorian Woman Pleads Guilty & Is Sentenced For Illegal Reentry

BUFFALO, NY.- On Thursday, a 38-year-old Ecuadorian national learn she will be heading back to Ecuador after pleading guilty and being sentenced to time served for being illegally in the United States after being previously deported.

     According to U.S. Attorney Michael DiGiacomo, on Thursday, November 13, 2025, Ana Castro Castro, 38, of Ecuador, residing illegally in Erie County, New York, appeared in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of New York and pleaded guilty before U.S. District Court Judge Richard J. Arcara to one count of Illegal Reentry into the United States by a Deported Alien.

     Following entering her guilty plea, Judge Arcara accepted the plea and immediately sentenced Castro to time served and remanded her to the custody of Immigration and Customs Enforcement, Enforcement Removal Operations, to be removed from the United States.

     According to documents filed with the District Court, in July 2021, Castro was physically removed from the United States. On August 1, 2025, she was found illegally in Erie County, New York, without permission or legal authorization to be legally present in the United States.

     U.S. Attorney DiGiacomo commended the investigation of Agents of the U.S. Border Patrol for Castro’s apprehension and prosecution.
