Egg Harbor City Man Pleads Guilty To Multiple Counts Of Invasion Of Privacy

HAMILTON TOWNSHIP, NJ.- On Tuesday, a 23-year-old Egg Harbor City, New Jersey, man learned he will be spending five years on probation when sentenced next year, after pleading guilty to multiple counts of invasion of privacy for recording men utilizing the restroom of a local gym, last year in Hamilton Township, New Jersey.
According to Atlantic County Prosecutor William E. Reynolds, on Tuesday, November 18, 2025, Daniel Zhang, 23, of Egg Harbor City, New Jersey, appeared in Atlantic County Superior Court and pleaded guilty before Superior Court Judge Joseph Levin to three counts of third-degree Invasion of Privacy.
Zhang Will Be Facing Five Years Of Probation When Sentenced
In return for the guilty plea, the Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office will recommend that Zhang be sentenced to a term of five years of probation, 200 hours of community service, and a mental health and psycho-sexual evaluation. Zhang will also be required to comply with the recommendations of the evaluation and submit to random checks of his electronic devices. Following entering his guilty plea, Judge Levin accepted the plea and scheduled sentencing for March 13, 2026.
The guilty plea stems from an incident that unfolded on September 16, 2024, when members of the Hamilton Township Police Department responded to Planet Fitness after receiving a report that a man, later identified as Zhang, was using his cellular phone to record another person without consent in the men’s restroom.
Upon arrival, Police Officers spoke with Zhang, who admitted to recording other men while they used the restroom at Planet Fitness and a local Wawa Convenience Store.
Zhang further admitted that he recorded the videos because he was sexually attracted to the men. A subsequent examination of Zhang’s cell phone at the time uncovered 49 videos of unidentified victims using the restroom. All the videos were recorded between May and September 2024, in Atlantic County, New Jersey, and elsewhere.
