Bronx Man Pleads Guilty To A Federal Narcotics Trafficking Offense

PITTSBURGH, PA.- Last Monday, a 34-year-old Bronx, New York, man learned he will be facing up to life in federal prison when sentenced next year after pleading guilty to narcotics trafficking after being found in possession of over five kilograms of cocaine during a 2023 traffic stop in the Western District of Pennsylvania.
According to First Assistant U.S. Attorney Troy Rivetti, on Monday, November 24, 2025, Jose Baez Cabrera, 34, of the Bronx, New York, appeared in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Pennsylvania and pleaded guilty before U.S. District Court Judge Cathy Bissoon to one count of Possession with Intent to Distribute Five Kilograms or More of a Controlled Substance, Cocaine.
Cabrera Could Be Facing Up To Life In Federal Prison
After entering his guilty plea, Judge Bissoon accepted the plea and scheduled sentencing for March 19, 2026. At that time, Cabrera faces a mandatory minimum of 10 years, and up to life in federal prison, and a $10 million fine. At sentencing, a U.S. District Court Judge will determine the term of imprisonment based on the seriousness of the offense and Cabrera’s prior criminal history.
According to the charging information filed with the District Court, on August 16, 2023, during an ongoing narcotics investigation, Cabrera was found to be in possession of five kilograms of cocaine.
First Assistant U.S. Attorney Rivetti commended the investigative work of the Pennsylvania State Police and the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration, which led to Cabrera’s guilty plea.
