WASHINGTON, DC.- On Friday, a 49-year-old Washington, D.C., man was taken into custody and jailed after being charged in connection with allegedly stabbing a man during a Wednesday night altercation in Northeast, D.C.
According to D.C. Metropolitan Police Chief Pamela A. Smith, on Wednesday, November 26, 2025, just shortly before 6:30 p.m., members of the D.C. Metropolitan Police Department’s Sixth District responded to a 911 Emergency Call reporting a stabbing on the 1600 Block of Kenilworth Avenue in Northeast, D.C.
Upon arrival, Police Officers located a man suffering from a stab wound. The man was immediately transported by DC Fire and Emergency Medical Services to a nearby hospital for treatment of a non-life-threatening stab wound.
During The Initial Investigation, Officers Identify Suspect
During the initial investigation, Responding Police Officers determined that the suspect, later identified as Gerard Fitzgerald Roseby, 49, with no reported address, had intervened in an argument, during which he pulled out a knife and stabbed the male victim.
Accordingly, on Friday, November 28, 2025, while on routine patrol, Sixth District Police Officers spotted Roseby in the same location as the stabbing and quickly placed him under arrest. Following being taken into custody, Roseby was formally charged with one count of Assault with a Dangerous Weapon.
Roseby was processed on the charge and was remanded to the D.C. Central Detention Facility pending future court proceedings in the Superior Court of the District of Columbia.
