Police Charge Man In Southeast, D.C. Store Snatch & Grab Robbery

WASHINGTON, DC.- On Saturday, a 40-year-old Washington, D.C., man was taken into custody and jailed after being charged in connection with the alleged robbery of a store in Southeast, D.C.

     According to D.C.Metropolitan Police Chief Pamela A. Smith, on Saturday, November 29, 2025, just shortly before 5:30 p.m., members of the D.C. Metropolitan Police Department’s Sixth District responded to a report of a robbery at a store located on the 1700 Block of Marion Barry Avenue in Southeast, D.C.

Store Employee Held The Suspect Until Police Officers Arrived

     Upon arrival, Police Officers located a store employee who reported that the suspect, identified as Corey Bender, 40, of Southeast, D.C., had entered the store, reached over the counter, and snatched cash out of the register. The employee quickly held Bender until the Police Officers arrived.

     Accordingly, as a result of the on-scene investigation, Bender was taken into custody and formally charged with Robbery. He was processed on the charge and was detained pending his first appearance in the Superior Court of the District of Columbia.

“The rules of the court require us to include a statement that states: The charges outlined in this publication are merely accusations, and the defendant and or defendants are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond reasonable doubt.”
