MAYS LANDING, NJ.- On Tuesday, following an investigation, a 24-year-old Mays Landing, New Jersey, man, employed as a Corrections Officer at the Atlantic County Justice Facility, was taken into custody and charged in connection with the alleged sexual assault of a female inmate that occurred in early September.
According to Atlantic County Prosecutor William E. Reynolds, Sebastian Flores-Huamani, 24, of Mays Landing, New Jersey, was formally charged with one count of second-degree Sexual Assault; and second-degree Official Misconduct. He was taken into custody at his Mays Landing home without incident on Tuesday.
The charges stem from an investigation that began when, on September 4, 2025, the Atlantic County Justice Facility Professional Standards Unit contacted the Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office regarding an allegation that a female inmate had come forward alleging that a corrections officer had entered her jail cell and sexually assaulted her.
During the ensuing investigation, Detectives of the Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office determined that Flores-Huamani, while on duty and at the Justice Facility, entered the woman’s cell and sexually assaulted her.
If convicted at trial, Flores-Humani will be facing up to 10 years in New Jersey State Prison on each of the counts, and would be subject to parole supervision for life, and would be required to register as a sex offender under Megan’s Law.
