BORDENTOWN TOWNSHIP, NJ.- Last week, Detectives charged a 23-year-old Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, man and a 21-year-old Cherry Hill, New Jersey, man in connection with fatally gunning down two men early last month in the parking lot of a Bordentown Township convenience store.
According to Burlington County Prosecutor LaChia L. Bradshaw, Justford Doe, 23, of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and Giovanni Varanese, 21, of Cherry Hill, New Jersey, were each charged with first-degree Murder; first-degree Conspiracy to Commit Murder; first-degree Robbery; second-degree Unlawful Possession of a Weapon; second-degree Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose; and second-degree Eluding. Both men were additionally charged with second-degree Certain Persons Not to Possess Weapons.
Both men were served with the charges at the Philadelphia Department of Prisons, where they are being detained on unrelated charges. The Burlington County Prosecutor’s Office will file an extradition motion to have both Doe and Varanese returned to New Jersey to stand trial.
The charges stem from an investigation that began on Wednesday, November 5, 2025, when, shortly around 11:30 p.m., members of the Bordentown Township Police Department responded to a 911 Emergency Call reporting a shooting at the 7-Eleven/Valero gas station located at the intersection of Route 130 and Farnsworth Avenue in the Township.
Upon arrival, Police Officers located two men, both having sustained multiple gunshot wounds. One of the men, identified as Daniel Patterson, 22, of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene. The second man, identified as Mason Knott, 21, of Wrightstown, New Jersey, was transported to Capital Health Medical Center in Trenton, New Jersey, where, despite life-saving efforts, he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased a short time later.
Following the shootings, both Doe and Varanese fled in a Jeep and later fled on foot after crashing the Jeep in Florence Township, New Jersey.
