Police Charge Teenage Boy With Robbing A Woman Of Her Cell Phone In Northeast, D.C.

WASHINGTON, DC.- Last Thursday, a 15-year-old Washington, D.C., boy was taken into custody and detained after being charged in connection with robbing a woman of her cell phone in Northeast, D.C.

     According to D.C. Metropolitan Police Chief Pamela A. Smith, on Thursday, December 11, 2025, just shortly after 4:15 p.m., members of the D.C. Metropolitan Police Department responded to a 911 Emergency Call from a woman reporting she had been robbed while on 18th Street in Northeast, D.C.

     Upon arrival, Responding Police Officers located the woman, who reported that while she was on 18th Street, she was approached by five teenagers, with one with his hand in his pocket as if he had a weapon. The group demanded her cell phone; she complied, handing over her phone, and then all five fled the scene.

Police Apprehend Teenager Shortly After The Robbery

     While canvassing the immediate area, and based on a description provided by the victim, Police Officers spotted one of the suspects and took him into custody.

     Accordingly, Police Officers charged the 15-year-old Southeast, D.C., boy with one count of Robbery. He was processed on the charge and was detained pending future court proceedings in the Superior Court of the District of Columbia Family Law Division.

“The rules of the court require us to include a statement that states: As in adult criminal cases, the charges outlined in this publication are merely accusations, and a juvenile defendant and or defendants are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.”
