According to Acting Hudson County Prosecutor Wayne Mello, Stanley Ruiz, 40, of Jersey City, New Jersey, was formally charged with one count of third-degree Endangering the Welfare of a Child; and a Disorderly Persons Offense of Lewdness. Ruiz was taken into custody on Tuesday at his Jersey City residence by members of the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force.

Rge Arrest And Charges Stem From An Online Investigation

The arrest and charges stem from an investigation that unfolded when, in March 2025, Investigators of the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force received credible information that an adult male sent sexually explicit messages to a female juvenile through the Social Media application Discord. The girl who lives outside the United States repeatedly identified herself to Ruiz as a juvenile.

Acting Hudson County Prosecutor Mello commended the investigative work of the Hudson County Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force, with the valuable assistance of Federal and International Law Enforcement partners, for the investigation which led to Ruiz’s arrest on Tuesday.

“The rules of the court require us to include a statement that states: The charges outlined in this publication are merely accusations, and the defendant and or defendants are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond reasonable doubt.”
