Man Dies Of Injuries Sustained In Sunday Night Jersey Crash

JERSEY CITY, NJ.- A 61-year-old Jersey City, New Jersey, man, who was struck by a vehicle while crossing at a busy intersection on Sunday night, December 14, 2025, in Jersey City, has tragically succumbed to his injuries on Wednesday, and was pronounced deceased at Jersey City Medical Center.

     According to Acting Hudson County Prosecutor Wayne Mello, and as previously reported, on Sunday, December 14, 2025, at around 9:15 p.m., members of the Jersey City Police Department responded to reports of a pedestrian being struck by a motor vehicle near the intersection of Mallory and Communipaw Avenues, in the City’s West Side neighborhood.

     Upon arrival, Responding Police Officers located a man, later identified as Luis Caisaguano, 61, of Jersey City, lying in the roadway, having sustained serious injuries. Mr. Caisaguano was immediately transported by Emergency Medical Services to Jersey City Medical Center, where, despite life-saving efforts, Mr. Caisaguano succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased on Wednesday, December 17, 2025.

     The investigation remains active and ongoing. No arrests or charges have been filed at this time, as investigators with the Hudson County Regional Collision Investigation Unit and the Jersey City Police Department continue their investigation into the circumstances surrounding the collision.
