NEWARK, NJ.- A 39-year-old West Orange, New Jersey, man learned that he could be potentially facing up to 70 years in federal prison when sentenced, after pleading guilty earlier this month to federal online child enticement and child pornography crimes involving young children.
According to Senior U.S. Counsel Philip Lamparello, on Thursday, December 11, 2025, Nabeen Leigh Singha, 39, of West Orange, New Jersey, appeared in the U.S. District Court for the District of New Jersey and pleaded guilty before Chief U.S. District Court Judge Renee M. Bumb to a three-count federal information charging him with one count of Production of Child Pornography; one count of Receipt of Child Pornography; and on count of Possession of Prepubescent Child Pornography.
Following entering his guilty plea, Judge Bumb accepted the plea and scheduled sentencing for a date and time to be determined by the District Court. When sentenced, Singha faces on all three counts a mandatory minimum of 25 years and up to 70 years in federal prison, at least 10 years and up to a lifetime of supervised release, and hundreds of thousands of dollars in fines. In addition, Singha would be required to pay restitution to his identified victims and register as a sex offender in the national database.
According To Charging Documents Filed With The Court
According to court documents and statements made in the District Court, beginning in and around July 2021 and lasting through March 2022, Singha exchanged online sexually explicit messages with two children and paid them money to create sexually explicit digital images and video files of themselves, and then sent them to Singha over the internet.
During that time period, Singha additionally communicated with an individual and paid that individual to send him sexually explicit digital images and video files of four additional children.
During the course of the investigation, Investigators obtained and executed a court-authorized search of Singha’s West Orange, New Jersey, residence. During the search, Investigators seized Singha’s cellular phone. A subsequent forensic examination of the phone uncovered around 5,000 digital images and 620 video files depicting the sexual exploitation and abuse of children, including the majority containing the sexual exploitation and abuse of prepubescent children.
The case was brought as part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative launched in May 2006 by the U.S. Department of Justice to combat the growing epidemic of the sexual exploitation and abuse of children.
