On Sunday, March 16, 2025, just shortly after 12:30 p.m., members of the Long Branch Police Department responded to reports of a shooting in the immediate area of the John R. Lewis Commons. Upon arrival, Responding Police Officers found a man, later identified as Tristan Reeves, 18, of Long Branch, New Jersey, on the ground suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Mr. Reeves was transported to an area hospital, where, despite life-saving efforts, he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased a short time later.
An investigation by Detectives of the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crimes Bureau and the Long Branch Police Department led to Terlecki, Moore, and Banks being identified as the persons responsible for the shooting death of Mr. Reeves.
Terlecki was located and taken into custody during the evening hours of Thursday, October 9, 2025, by members of the Port Authority Police Department and remains in custody in the Monmouth County Correctional Institution. Moore was taken into custody on Thursday, October 2, 2025. Moore also remains in custody in the Monmouth County Correctional Institution pending future court proceedings in Monmouth County Superior Court.
Banks was also in custody in the Monmouth County Correctional Institution on an unrelated charge. Banks and Moore were ordered detained during a pretrial detention hearing on Wednesday, October 16, 2025, before Monmouth County Superior Court Judge Henry P. Butehorn.
If convicted at trial, Terlecki, Moore, and Banks each face a maximum of life in New Jersey State Prison. Moore would face an additional ten years in State Prison on the Certain Persons Not to Possess Weapons offense.
