SEWELL, NJ.- A 41-year-old Mantua Township, New Jersey, man will be facing three decades in New Jersey State Prison when sentenced next year, after pleading guilty last Monday to sexually assaulting a child and distributing digital images and video files depicting the sexual exploitation and abuse of children.
According to Gloucester County Prosecutor Andrew B. Johns, on Monday, December 15, 2025, Nicholas Bounasis, 41, of the Sewell section of Mantua Township, New Jersey, appeared in Gloucester County Superior Court and pleaded guilty before Superior Court Judge Kevin T. Smith to one count of first-degree Aggravated Sexual Assault; and one count of second-degree Distribution of Child Pornography.
Bounasis Will Be Facing 30 Years In State Prison
In return for the guilty plea, the Gloucester County Prosecutor’s Office will recommend that Bounasis be sentenced to 30 years in State Prison. Bounasis will be required to serve the entire 30 years. In addition to the term of imprisonment, Bounasis will be subject to parole supervision for life, and register as a sex offender, pursuant to Megan’s Law restraints.
Following entering his guilty plea, Judge Smith accepted the plea and scheduled sentencing for April 10, 2026.
The guilty plea stems from an investigation after Bounasis was identified as an individual utilizing the internet to view, download, possess, and share child pornography. On June 27, 2024, Bounasis was taken into custody following the execution of a court-authorized search warrant at his Sewell, New Jersey, home.
During the search, Detectives of the Gloucester County Prosecutor’s Office High Tech Unit seized multiple electronic devices. A forensic examination of those devices uncovered media files containing digital images and video files of child pornography. Investigators uncovered evidence that Bounasis shared those media files with others over the internet. Investigators uncovered evidence that Bounasis had sexually assaulted a child who was under the age of twelve.
Gloucester County Prosecutor Johns commended the Philadelphia Division of the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the New Jersey State Police, the Gloucester County High Tech Unit, and the Mantua Township Police Department for the investigation, arrest, and last Monday’s guilty plea.Â
