West Milford Woman Hospitalized After Being Struck By Gunfire Early Monday Morning

PATERSON, NJ.- Detectives of the Passaic County Prosecutor’s Office and the Paterson Police Department’s Shooting Investigation Unit are continuing the investigation into the circumstances surrounding a shooting that occurred early this morning in the City of Paterson.

     According to Passaic County Prosecutor Camelia M.Valdes, on Monday, December 22, 2025, just shortly after 12:30 a.m., members of the Paterson Police Department responded to reports of gunfire in the area of 12th Avenue and Auburn Street in the City of Paterson.

     Upon arrival, Responding Police Officers located evidence of a shooting crime scene, but were unable to locate a victim. While canvassing the area, Police Officers learned that a 23-year-old woman from the Hewitt section of West Milford Township, New Jersey, had arrived at Saint Joseph’s University Medical Center seeking treatment for a non-life-threatening gunshot wound.

     Following interviewing the woman, Police Officers and Detectives determined that the woman was struck by gunfire near the intersection of 12th Avenue and Auburn Street in the City.

     The investigation remains active and ongoing. No arrests have been reported as Detectives continue the search for the suspect.
