BUFFALO, NY.- A 20-year-old Jamestown, New York, man will be facing up to 40 years in federal prison after pleading guilty on Monday to a federal illicit narcotics offense.
According to U.S. Attorney Michael DiGiacomo, on Monday, December 22, 2025, Ruben Medina, 20, of Jamestown, New York, appeared in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of New York and pleaded guilty before U.S. Magistrate Judge Jeremiah J. McCarthy to Possession with Intent to Distribute Five Grams or More of a Controlled Substance, Methamphetamine.
Medina Will Face Up To 40 Years, When Sentenced
Following entering his guilty plea, Judge McCarthy accepted the plea and scheduled sentencing for a date and time to be determined by the District Court. When sentenced, Medina faces a mandatory minimum of five years and up to 40 years in federal prison, at least three years of supervised release, and a fine of up to $5,000,000. At sentencing, a U.S. District Court Judge will determine the term of imprisonment based on the seriousness of the offense and Medina’s prior criminal history.
According to court documents, on September 11, 2024, members of the Jamestown Police Department conducted a traffic stop on Medina’s vehicle for an outstanding violation-of-probation arrest warrant. Medina initially refused to exit the vehicle, but later complied and was taken into custody. During a subsequent search of Medina, a Police Officer located and seized around 109 grams of methamphetamine on his person.
Previously, on June 25, 2024, after being identified as a local drug dealer, Investigators executed a court-authorized search warrant at a Newland Avenue residence associated with Medina. During the search, Investigators located and seized quantities of cocaine, methamphetamine, fentanyl, p-fluorofentanyl, suboxone strips, $200, a digital scale, and a firearm.
