Wednesday, December 24, 2025, 7:30 A.M. ET. 2 Minute Read, By Art Fletcher: Englebrook Independent News,

EDISON, NJ.- On Tuesday, Middlesex County Prosecutor Yolanda Ciccone reported that a 35-year-old Edison, New Jersey, man has been taken into custody and jailed after being charged in connection with the Sunday morning stabbing death of his 26-year-old girlfriend inside her Edison Township, New Jersey, home.

According to Edison Police Officials, on Sunday, December 21, 2025, just shortly after 9:15 a.m., members of the Edison Police Department responded to a 911 Emergency Call reporting a stabbing at a residence located on Grove Avenue in Edison.

Upon arrival, Responding Police Officers discovered Imani Smith, 26, of Edison, New Jersey, unresponsive, suffering from multiple stab wounds. Ms. Smith was immediately transported by Emergency Medical Services to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, where, despite life-saving efforts, Ms. Smith tragically succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced deceased a short time later.

During the initial investigation, Detective Kevin Kirsh of the Edison Police Department and Detective Olivia Ankudowicz of the Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office quickly determined that Jordan D. Jackson-Small, 35, of Edison, New Jersey, was responsible for the fatal stabbing of Ms. Smith. It was further determined that when the alleged stabbing took place, the couple’s young son was inside the home.

Following The Investigation Charges Were Filed Against Jackson-Small

Accordingly, Jackson-Small was taken into custody without incident and formally charged with one count of first-degree Murder; second-degree Endangering the Welfare of a Child; third-degree Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose; and fourth-degree Unlawful Possession of a Weapon. He was processed and lodged in the Middlesex County Adult Correctional Center pending future court proceedings in Middlesex County Superior Court in New Brunswick, New Jersey.

Court records show that Jackson-Small previously pleaded guilty to aggravated assault in June 2024, in connection with a domestic incident that occurred just two years prior, on December 21, 2023, and had been admitted to the New Jersey Pretrial Intervention Program.

The investigation remains ongoing. Anyone with additional information regarding this investigation is urged to contact Detective Kirsh of the Edison Township Police Department at (732) 718-8064 or Detective Ankudowicz of the Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office at (732) 745-8083. All calls and information will be kept confidential.
