River Vale Man Charged With Sexually Assaulting A Woman On New Year’s Day

RIVER VALE, NJ.- On Thursday, a 20-year-old River Vale, New Jersey, man was taken into custody and jailed after being charged in connection with allegedly sexually assaulting a woman during the early morning hours of New Year’s Day.

     According to Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella, on Thursday, January 1, 2026, the River Vale Police Department contacted the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Special Victims Unit regarding an alleged sexual assault that had occurred earlier in the day.

     During the ensuing investigation, Detectives of the Bergen County Special Victims Unit and the River Vale Police Department found probable cause to believe that Julian A. Morris, 20, of River Vale, New Jersey, sexually assaulted an incapacitated woman in River Vale during the early morning hours of January 1, 2026.

     Accordingly, on Thursday, January 8, 2026, Morris was taken into custody in River Vale, New Jersey, and formally charged with one count of first-degree Aggravated Sexual Assault; and second-degree Sexual Assault. Morris was processed on the charges and was remanded to the Bergen County Jail pending future court proceedings in Bergen County Superior Court in Hackensack, New Jersey.
