BAYONNE, NJ.- On Wednesday, following a months-long investigation, a 28-year-old Bayonne, New Jersey, man was taken into custody and jailed after being charged with allegedly possessing hundreds of digital images and video files depicting the sexual exploitation and abuse of children.

According to Acting Hudson County Prosecutor Wayne Mello, Anthony Santiago, 28, of Bayonne, New Jersey, was formally charged with one count of third-degree Endangering the Welfare of a Child for Possession of Child Pornography. Santiago was taken into custody on Wednesday, January 7, 2026, at the Bayonne Police Department. He was processed on the charge and was remanded to the Hudson County Correctional Facility pending future court proceedings.

The charge stems from an investigation that began in July 2025, when members of the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force received information that media files containing the sexual exploitation and abuse were being uploaded to a Snapchat account in the Hudson County, New Jersey area.

During the investigation, Detectives of the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office identified Santiago as the owner of the Snapchat account. During the course of the investigation, Detectives uncovered hundreds of digital images and video files associated with Santiago’s online accounts, being stored on several electronic devices.

Acting Hudson County Prosecutor Mello commended the investigative work of the Hudson County Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force, the Hudson County Special Victims Unit, Cyber Crimes Unit, and the Bayonne Police Department, which resulted in the arrest of Santiago.

“The rules of the court require us to include a statement that states: The charges outlined in this publication are merely accusations, and the defendant and or defendants are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond reasonable doubt.”
