Police Investigating The Shooting Death Of Northeast, D.C. Teenager

WASHINGTON, DC.- The D.C. Metropolitan Police Department is continuing the investigation into the circumstances surrounding an early Wednesday morning shooting that claimed the life of an 18-year-old Northeast, D.C., man.

     According to Interim D.C. Metropolitan Police Chief Jeffery Carroll, on Wednesday, January 21, 2026, just minutes after 12:00 a.m., members of the D.C. Metropolitan Police Department’s Fourth District responded to a 911 Emergency Call reporting a shooting inside a residence located on the 1300 Block of Varnum Street in Northeast, D.C.

     Upon arrival, Responding Police Officers made entry into the residence and located a man, identified as Malik Moore, 18, of Northeast, D.C., suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Mr. Moore was immediately transported by DC Fire and Emergency Medical Services to a nearby hospital, where, despite life-saving efforts, Mr. Moore tragically succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased a short time later.

     The investigation remains active and ongoing. D.C. Homicide Branch Detectives are asking anyone with information regarding the shooting death of Mr. Moore to contact the D.C.
