OLD BRIDGE, NJ.- Last Wednesday, following an online child pornography investigation, a 39-year-old Old Bridge, New Jersey, man, and accused child predator was taken into custody and jailed after being charged in connection with allegedly possessing, producing, and extorting digital images and video files of the sexual exploitation and abuse of children.
According to Middlesex County Prosecutor Linda Estremera, Daniel Berwick, 39, of Old Bridge, New Jersey, has been formally charged with first-degree Production of Child Pornography; second-degree Manufacturing of Child Pornography; second-degree Aggravated Sexual Extortion; second-degree Possession of Child Pornography; third-degree Endangering the Welfare of a Child; third-degree Using Deceptive Audio/Video Files to Further a Crime; and third-degree Distributing Obsecene Material to a Child.
Berwick was taken into custody on Wednesday, January 21, 2026, at his Old Bridge, New Jersey, home during the execution of a court-authorized search warrant at the culmination of an online child sex crimes investigation. Berwick was processed on the charges and was remanded to the Middlesex County Adult Correctional Center pending future court proceedings in Middlesex County Superior Court in New Brunswick, New Jersey.
According to the Prosecutor’s Office, the investigation began after the Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office Internet Crimes Against Children Unit received a CyberTip regarding Berwick’s online activities. During the ensuing investigation, Detective Ken McGarry of the Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office uncovered that Berwick was posing as a 17-year-old boy on the instant messaging application Snapchat, utilizing another person’s pictures and videos to coerce, entice, and persuade children to send him digital images and video files depicting the sexual exploitation and abuse of his minor victims.
If convicted at trial, Berwick could face decades in New Jersey State Prison.
Prosecutor Estremera commended the investigative work of the Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office Internet Crimes Against Children Unit, as well as the Old Bridge Police Department, the Dallas, Texas Police Department, and the Federal Bureau of Investigation, Newark’s Child Exploitation and Human Trafficking Task Force, for the investigation and arrest of Berwick.
